Vomiting dog

Can anyone help?

My dog was sick around 7 times this afternoon. I took her to the vets this evening and they said she probably has a bug or has eaten something dodgy. By the time she was at the vets she had not been sick for an hour. Vet gave her an antacid injection and omeprazole prescription for 5 days. She said to feed her a small amount of white fish and rice this evening which I have done. And to give her the first omeprazole tablet at 9pm.

However dog has just vomited again, twice. Before I was about to give her the tablet.

Do I still give her the tablet? She’s thrown up her fish and rice dinner and then some foam so her stomach must be empty again.

She is very tricky to give tablets/medicine too at the best of times. If she has just been sick I can’t give it with any food can I?

If she has vomited 9 times she at the very least needs an anti-emetic, but may need admitted. I would suggest you phone the out of hours number.

Thanks i called an out of hours vet who said to try and give the omeprazole, which I have done. This was about an hour ago and she has been ok. She was sick the 7 times between 1.30 and 3.30pm today and then nothing. She ate a small portion of white fish and rice around 6.30pm. She was fine until just before 9pm and then sick twice in succession. Ok since then so I have now put her to bed. She has had a bit of water and had a wee etc and also tried to chase a fox in the garden so not completely out of sorts.

Op I would watch your dog’s demeanour and go back to the vet if she seems to not be herself.

My dog went a full 24 hours of not
Keeping anything down, barely any water either. We stayed up all night with him as it was coming out of both ends. Slowly he started to keep fluids down and then very bland food (cooked rice, cooked chicken & broccoli). We had to hand feed him to tempt him to eat. The bug finally worked its way out after about 48 hours. It's knackering and so worrying. Liquids are the important thing - try and keep poochie hydrated.
