Anyone have a decent car boot protector? Hairy dog.

Am getting a new (to me) car next week and I want to stop it getting ruined by a muddy hairy dog.

There are so many options - solid liner, boot mat, carpet cover etc I don't know what to go for.

Anyone have one they recommend?

Does your the manufacturer of your cat make a trunk liner? We have one of those with a piece of carpet off-cut on top to give the dogs some grip and something comfy to lie on. When it gets smelly and disgusting I go back to the nice man in the carpet shop and he gives me another piece. I cut it to shape and edge it with duct tape to stop it fraying. Cheap and effective.

That's a good idea. I'm not sure if I want something that goes up the sides too. My old car is covered in hair!

This is the boot cover we bought. Unfortunately, it is showing out of stock at the moment, but I’m sure you would be able to get something similar. It’s really good because it is waterproof and can be wiped down.

We got a boot buddy when we bought our 6 month old focus estate 6 years ago. We got the solid boot liner and the non slip mat. On top of that we put washable vet bed (which soaks up wet hairy labrador).

The liner is a perfect fit all the way up the sides (although we had to cut holes ourselves for the dog guard to fit, but it was easily done). I rarely take it out but when I do the boot is spotless.

Downside is I need to remove if I want something big in the boot that needs the rear seats down and it is huge to put some where. It is also quite expensive, but we've had our 6 years now and it is as good as new still.

I've been looking at that broken. Good to get a recommendation as it is indeed expensive! How do you secure dog? At the moment we have a 7 seater so attach him to a seatbelt at the back but that won't be possible in 5seater boot.

We have a boot buddy in the 'good' car and it has kept it spotless and is so easy to wipe down

We don't secure him. We have a permanent metal dog guard which keeps him in the boot compartment, nothing else is in there, and he is trained to sit and stay when we open the boot.

I have a Hatchbag www.hatchbag.co.uk expensive but amazing, when I removed it from my last car, after 2 years of white dogs in boot the black carpet under it was spotless.

We have a Rhino boot liner (more for muddy bikes for us than dogs), they are made to fit the exact model and are brilliant, waterproof and don't slide around.
