This week, my dog has had a freak out over... a man in a hat, a dustbin in the wrong place, men on scaffolding, a ladder, a rhino on the TV and the hoover (standard). But fireworks? Nope, not bothered! Not sure I'd call him a tough nut though 😂

Mine apparently also gives no fucks about fireworks (although it’s the first time and the fireworks have been unexpectedly quiet tonight-maybe because of the weather?). The wind and rain today however is not acceptable apparently!

I found mine in the garden the other day, watching them go off in the distance.

No shits were given.

He also is sent to sleep by Alexa playing thunderstorm noises.

He is a weird one, for sure.

I've two working springers who are used to gunshots, so when they hear fireworks they aren't in the least bit bothered. Thunder, on the other hand, they don't like that much.

Haha! My staffy barks at them, as if she's pissed off. My beagle doesn't even notice them.

My son was in the kitchen one night, the light at back door came on - a fox was wandering about on the patio (which he had to get through the fence to get to!) and both dogs were fast asleep. The BEAGLE!!

Mine really isn't but she's 15 and gone almost virtually deaf so can't hear them at all! Few years ago she would be barking like mad tonight so I'm feeling smug non the less Grin

My dog isn't bothered about fireworks at all. She wouldn't pass a Pumpkin in neighbours garden this morning though 😂

Missy watches fireworks quite happily. The cat does as well.

Nothing scares the dog.... Except me and DH shouting at the rugby on TV. 🙄

Our staffy thinks fireworks are quite fun. She cannot actually get up on the dining room chair to watch, which previous staffy/ridge back cross cou!d, but she gives it a good go. She seems to want to see what the noise is about

Until quite recently Sad we had an old Labrador who had been deaf as a post for his last few years. When he was younger he HATED fireworks but in his old age, he obviously wasn't bothered!

The bonus here was that our younger springer, who adored him, looked to him for a response, saw him snoring, and realised there was nothing to be stressed about.

Maybe every scared youngster needs to spend bonfire night with a deaf old one?!

We have a Springer here too. She's never once been an actual working gundog but is currently lying here snoozing next to me on the sofa while some very loud fireworks go off outside and she hasn't so much as raised an eyebrow. Just like any other evening really.

3 chihuahuas and a baby who couldn’t give a furry rats arse about fireworks. The cat also doesn’t care.. but the cat hasn’t cared about much in his 6 years of life. Unless it’s the bottom of the dish showing.

I grew up with a dog who barked at everything.. I never trained them to be used to loud noises.. I expected hell every year. Maybe cause they’re closer to the ground they’re closer to hell they don’t hear it as loud or something. Or it’s the tiny demon that fuels their rage for the postman and men in red jackets.

Mine hate men in hi vis but don't give a shit about the fireworks. They've slightly raised the odd eyebrow at the loud ones(we live right on top of a professional display).

My tiny female Yorkie never phased by fireworks .
Feisty little crossbreed terrier like the proverbial pub drunk - hold me back but let me at him- terrified of fireworks . But not of distant clay pigeon shooting at weekends - can’t understand it !

QueenOfOversharing · 02/11/2019 20:42

My staffy is also petrified when it's windy. But she has to be outside in it. She ripped an old cat flap off the door & squeezed through - sat in the rain while I was out! I leave the tv on but she's still terrified.
