Dog bitten through ear

My dog has what looks like a bite through his ear (fresh scab on either side) after being with our dog walker today. He's quite hairy so not immediately obvious on sight. I've asked our dog walker and he didn't see him get in any scraps, so not sure where it's come from.

Would you fellow dog owners be worried about this? Our walker looks after some large dogs, and I'm worried that if they wanted to they could do a lot of damage to my small/ medium dog pretty easily. Or is it more likely just one of those dog things - rambunctious play or reminding him of his position in the pecking order.

I have a (human) baby that's just started nursery so I don't have the mental capacity to worry about my hairy first born as well!

If you trust the dog walker, I'd guess some overexuberant play, or even an incident with brambles etc, especially if your dog has large floppy ears (eg spaniel).
