Can anyone tell me about Bolognese dogs?

I am interested in this breed having seen them at Discover Dogs at the weekend. Despite their long hair they are apparently less allergenic dogs. The ones we saw weren’t clipped (correct word?)- the breed club website says this is usual. The owner of the ones we saw said whilst they need regular grooming, despite their white fluffiness they didn’t need frequent baths.

Anyone got any experience of these?

I walk often with a women who has one - the dog is lovely - walks off the lead along the pavement (I will never get that far with mine), very friendly and sweet.

Thanks buttery -that sounds a lovely dog. Is it long haired or clipped? I am still rather incredulous that the long haired one we saw at Discover Dogs only needed a bath every few months - there was so much white fluffiness which given the dog’s small stature would be very near wet pavements or muddy ground!

Up til now we’ve narrowed our choice to a toy poodle but I am wondering if a dog breed to be a companion is better for DD.

yes it’s a little ball of fluff! Not sure how often it’s bathed, but - I have a Maltese cross - so a similar breed (fluffy and partially white), groomers three times a year and a bath maybe every six weeks ish - but that’s more when he’s muddy etc. White fluffy dogs are surprisingly easy to keep clean. It can be more washing around the eyes etc, but that depends on the dog really.

Do dogs that are only bathed every 6 weeks or so not get muddy or do you wait til it dries and brush the mud out? In wet season mine needs hosed down daily.
