I would have thought the cream would soak in within 30 mins or so, you could distract her during that time or use a vet collar if still concerned.

Hot spot is a bacterial infection and betafuse contains an antibiotic to kill the bacteria and an anti-inflammatory to reduce the itch. The advice to wear gloves and wash hands after use is partly due to the anti-inflammatory content, but mainly to stop you spreading bacteria elsewhere on the dog. The bacteria involved in hot spot is very similar to impetigo so spreads fast, but differently can become a deep skin infection which if not treated promptly can take very long courses of antibiotics to resolve.

LoneCatWithKitten Thank you for this information ,very helpful . I always worry with any medication! This has reassured me greatly .Many thanks and I appreciate your advice .Often get home from Vets and forget to ask her questions as little time with a standard appointment.
