My parents have 2 dogs ( Sam and Brace) and a cat(Katie). Katie is the most miserable cat I have ever seen, you cannot even look at her. The only person she likes is my DM.
Brace loves everyone including Katie. Sam is a rescue dog he's an Alsation crossed with a great Dane so a very large dog as soft as a brush, someone forgot to tell him he's too big to get on anyone's lap. Sam was badly treated so likes to be loved. He doesn't bark much as we believe he was beaten if he barked. He is my dad's dog but will obey mum as well.
On Sunday my dad had gone night fishing with my DB. There had been a few break ins around the neighborhood of my DPs, but the police couldn't find the burglars. Sam, Brace and Katie sleep in the living room but all the internal doors are open.
About 4pm my DM heard someone shouting downstairs. When she came down to investigate she found Sam cornering a large man. And every time he moved Sam growled. He never touched him but when Sam stands up on 2 legs he is nearly 7ft tall.
DM called the police and fortunately they came near enough straight away. The problem then started because Sam wouldn't let the man move. Mum phoned me as where dad and brother were fishing they didn't have a signal on the mobile. Me and DH went and got my dad, he came back and just said to Sam down. The police were then able to arrest this man. The police found a knife and screwdriver on him. The police were impressed with Sam and wish they could have him as a guard dog.
This is the first and hope only time Sam has needed to protect his family.

Funny story but thank goodness for Sam.
