Holidays are better with dogs 😊

On our first holiday since we got our dog at the end of last year.

Seeing her sprinting on the beach and other dogs playing with her on the beach and just the whole vibe of not being lazy and having a purpose rather than eating and drinking. I just love it 😍😍😍

Am I being soppy? The evenings have changed, don't get me wrong, but I like being in the caravan with a glass of red having a game of snakes and ladders with dh and dd.

God I sound boring don't I, but I feel all content 🤗 and maybe a red wine more than I should have had.

I'm with you! I'm a long haul stewardess, I go all over the world, stay in 4* hotels, but I much prefer spending our holidays in the caravan with my husband and the dogs walking and chilling! I'd have been horrified to know that 20 years ago!😄

We had our first holiday with our new dog this month and it was absolute heaven - stayed in this country but walked the legs off her in Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia - even found out she can run alongside a bike for 3 hours (longer than I can cycle for basically). Felt smug for the exercise, smug for the low value of the pound and smug every time someone engaged us in conversation to say how gorgeous she was. And loved having her curled up under the table ob a meal or trip out to the pub.
And it was super getting to know her better.
Perfection.

You do need to get her used to nice dog friendly pubs too, for those evening meal outings Wink . Tbh if there aren’t a scattering of dogs lying hopefully under tables is it even a pub I want to go to.......

We've loved taking our new dog on holiday this week, though she does stand to attention rather than lay under tables a little more than we'd like. She prefers to lay on a duvet, you see, and we've only carried a blanket around with us. So many people have come up to fuss her and it's lovely to chat to them about their dogs.

Ooh this is encouraging. We'll be getting our first dog soon, some people are so negative about how it impacts on your lifestyle, how you can't go anywhere nice without loads of planning etc. Our holidays are in a campervan in the UK, lots of long walk, visiting the beach, pub lunch/dinners, you get the picture. This Summer I kept thinking how lovely it could be with a dog joining us I may have an imaginary dog sometimes

Our dog goes EVERYWHERE with us. We’re those people. We plan holidays with the specific aim of making sure she can do as much as possible with us.

Would hate to go without her at this stage.
