My poor fur baby is dying

My beautiful baby is dying. He's had an ultrasound done and they've found his insides covered in tumours. Up until Sunday morning he was fine. Happy, waggling his little tail and now he's in the vets dying. I'm so heartbroken

I'm so sorry @user what an awful situation to be in. Can you tell us more about him? His name, some memories even share some pictures if it helps?
In the meantime hugs to you both xx

I’m so sorry. It’s such a sad helpless feeling. I lost my cat not too long ago. Know your animal knew it was loved.

His name is max. He's only 9 years old. He is/was the bestest dog anyone could ever ask for. He has such a kind beautiful nature fell in love with him. He loved giving us all kisses and just being with us. He loves/loved sausage rolls Blush.

I just can't believe it. Yesterday we were told it was probably just heatstroke or a chest infection. The vet told us not to panic and now 2 and a half hours ago we are being told he's riddled with tumours. He was so so so happy up until Sunday morning. I just can't understand

Oh op, he's such a handsome boy!! Please remind yourself he is so loved, that you have him the best life possible and he loved you all so so much.
I truly believe the reason we have dogs is to know unconditional love and to learn how to love freely.
Could you take a sausage roll in to him as a treat if you haven't yet said goodbye?

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'm due to be at work in a few hours. I plan on calling up and explaining the situation. I know its a silly reason not to go to work but I just can't face it. My heart is broken.

We're due to go our first family holiday in 10 years in a few weeks. He'd never been left before so had a "sleepover" at the persons house who would be looking after him and he was absolutely fine. Made himself right at home bless him. It's awful to think that tomorrow he'll most likely be going over rainbow Bridge.

Just can't imagine life without him

I plan on going tomorrow to say goodbye. I'm in a wheelchair though so may need to sort out appropriate transport if my family don't want to go. He's not in the usual vets due to it being bank holiday.

Sending you love, OP. He was happy and waggy and then suddenly ill - that’s a good life, although it’s heartbreaking for you. I’d call in to work too, it’s not silly, of course it is not.

I know its a silly reason not to go to work but I just can't face it.

One of the nicest things a boss ever did for me was to see me walking away from the vets after a lunchtime apt., without the dog, crying. She was in the car and called me up to tell me to change direction and walk home intead of into work for the afternoon.

Many years later and I have had multiple chances to repay this with direct reports who have lost pets. The grief is real.

Flowers for you, OP. It is so terribly heartbreaking when they go.

Max crossed over the rainbow Bridge this afternoon. To say we are heartbroken is an understament but we managed to be there for while he passed away. We kissed him on his nose, told him he was 1 in a million and we'd never forget him and thanked him for bringing us so much joy and happiness.

Unfortunately he was to critical for the vets to help him. He had sepsis and a number of other things wrong. He would of had to have been moved to an intensive care unit which would mean him travelling which would be unlikely he'd survive even that let alone make it to the operating table. At least with us all making the choice we got to say goodbye and we know he went peacefully and pain free.

Life will never ever be the same without our precious fur baby. I hope he's up there now having a lovely time and happy. Sleep tight my precious angel.

Thank you everyone for reading and for all the support.
