The doghouse

Have the Dog boarders over-exercised my dog?

She's a 20 month old staff cross and stayed with the boarders for 2 weeks (we got her back on saturday). Since then I've noticed she seems stiff after she gets up after she's been lying for a while or in the morning. Adopts a sort of stiff-legged short gait and a little reluctant to jump. She's fine on walks and after she's been up and about for a while (currently rolling around on the floor with her antler chew!) The boarders said she was being walked 5 miles a day which doesn't sound excessive for a young dog!? But also she was being walked with a lab who belonged to boarders friend and was "run ragged" (their description). She's also been a bit funny about food since she came back. Any thoughts? TIA!

Might have pulled a muscle? I'd give her a few days of calm and quiet and then talk to a vet if not better.

Was it kennels or home boarding in their home? Mine jumps about like a loon in kennels and often comes home a bit stiff and achy.

Yes rest for a few days the boarder might have fed at different times so she is being a bit weird but if she is sore she might not be up to eating.

Thanks both. Yes it was a home boarder. She's hard to rest as high energy but will stick to one calm-ish walk a day.

It is hard but try and do smallish walks if she isn't better then take her to thevet she might need a few days painkillers she might have overdone it

Could be a mild injury from all the play with the other dog? I've had my dog come home from home boarding noticeably thinner because she gets sooo much exercise with the other dogs.

I Will, Mrsjayy, thanks Smile
Funnily enough, she came back tubbier from these boarders!? We sent her dried stuff and tins just to stuff her Kong with but almost none came back and we'd "over-catered" !
