Any stud dog owners or breeders around to help me please?

I have a unneutered female and a neutered male. Female currently in season.

Male has been very interested in female this time for some reason and actually tied with her last night. He was screaming the house down, absolutely panicking and trying to pull away. I've never heard a noise like it. They came apart and he seemed fine. She seemed irritated for 5 minutes, licking herself and running around but then absolutely fine.

I was working today but had someone over all day to keep an eye on the dogs. Unfortunately they didn't do a very good job and the exact same thing happened again.

Basically my question is why was he screaming? Was he in pain or just panicking? I'm guessing it's not normal. And I'm worried about the female. They did seem to come apart naturally but I can't be 100% sure. I've checked them both over and no blood or anything but should I take her to the vets? Apart from the first 5 minutes immediately after, she seems absolutely fine.

Jesus, just because he's been neutered, does not mean he doesn't want to mate her!!

A PLANNED mating should ALWAYS be supervised because of damage that can be done to dog or bitch.

You knew she was in season, you should have kept them separate. Not only for safety reasons, but also so the poor male cannot get himself so wound up knowing there is a fertile female that is at the peak of her season. Very irresponsible

& yes, you should get them both checked at the vet to make sure there is no damage!! & to book your bitch in to be spayed so this doesn't happen again in 6 months

I didn't say he wouldn't be interested in her because he was neutered. I said he has never been interested when she's been in season before so it was unexpected. She will be spayed after her next season as I'd like her to be fully matured first. The same as what I did with my male.

He's screaming because the tie is bloody alarming and potentially very dangerous! Especially if your bitch moves away while he's still got all his tackle inside her. I can't stress enough the need to either separate them or keep them supervised at all times.

They have been separated since last night apart from when the person looking after them today decided to put them in the same room together. I couldn't take the day off, work which is why I asked this person to look after them.

How long ago was he neutered? If within the last few months he may still be fertile.

Get her neutered now.
She has had at least two seasons and is grown up.

When was he neutered and how? Any chance they missed a testicle? If it was decent then yes there could be an issue.
I understand waiting. For large dogs it’s worth waiting but you need to ensure this can’t happen.

Anything more than one season is unnecessary, we had ours spayed after one season and it's the best thing for her.

But please take both to the vet as they could have done serious damage.

I would get a vet to check them over but saying OP has to spay isn’t helpful. I have a giant breed bitch. The advice is never to spay before two at the very earliest. It affects growth and likelihood of bone cancer too.

They are going to the vets in the morning. I won't be spaying until after the next season. Call me irresponsible if you like but I have done my research and I feel this is best for my dog.

Dogs have been separated since I've been home and I'm off work for 2 weeks now so there definitely will not be any accidents. Although, I do take full responsibility for what happened which is why I wanted advice on what to do for the best.

My dogs are like my third and fourth dc and I'm annoyed at myself that this happened. Obviously I expected some negative responses when I posted this. Normally I do research things and think I am a good dog owner generally. I did know neutered dogs could still 'perform' but as he had previously showed no interest in her when she was in season, I didn't expect this.

He was neutered ages ago so I don't think there's any chance of anything happening.
