Who else misses their dog while on holiday?

(Such a first world, self indulgent problem I know) Having a great time on holiday but does anyone else feel like a family member is missing? Ddog is having a great time at the breeder’s house with visits to the beach and massive fields everyday and living with mum and brother who has also come to stay but still feel guilt for leaving her. Am I being crazy or do all dog owners feel like this (first time leaving her)?

We feel the same.

He adores his boarder and I know he's having fun but I still feel guilty leaving him so much we now only have 1 week holiday without him a year rather than 2 weeks

Not guilty so much as I know he adores my DF who he stays with and is equally happy there, but I certainly miss him!

I adore my dog so much. I used to go away abroad a few times a year but it’s staycations from now on as I can take him with me!

I just never do more than 4 days and he is always left with either dc or dh at home so I don’t need to worry about him although I do miss our nightly cuddle on the bed watching TV .

I just like doing what the dogs like doing (well not rolling in fox poo) but the other stuff, walking, swimming, in the country etc so the dogs usually come with us.

We take them abroad and this year went to the Dolomites and had fantastic walks in the mountains then to Croatia for a few days on the beach - they and us had a great time.

Threw in an agility competition in Germany on the way back Smile

Yes, I do miss mine, but don't feel my cycling holiday would be enhanced by having to tow a 27k dog around! She'll come when we don't take bikes though

I miss my cat when I'm on holiday.

I'm always texting the lovely sweet cattery lady asking for photos and updates on him. I even sent him in with a tin of tuna when he was in the cattery on his birthday and she sent me a video of her singing happy birthday to him. Grin

Yep! Away for the weekend now, and missing the tap tap tap of those little toes.... Hols with dogs are less relaxing but it's so lovely to see them having a good time. And they're usually knackered afterwards which gets you a couple days of peace!

We've got a short break next month to N.Y. to celebrate our silver anniversary. Maggie will be looked after by my aunt and uncle who do dog fostering and live on the coast, which she loves. My husband now says he's having second thoughts as he thinks he'll miss her too much!

This is bad but when DH and I go away to a hotel break in UK for a Couple of days I miss ddog more than DS!! And I feel a bit guilty if we go to the beach or walk by a river, some thing I know ddog would enjoy doing - unlike DS! (who is late teens by the way - we aren't abandoning a young child)

We have decided though that if we are only going for a couple of days it's better to leave him at home as he doesn't travel very well.

We will be flying abroad in a couple of weeks but the kennel puts videos on instagram so we can see how he's getting on.
