Hi was hoping for some advice. A friend of mine has been with there partner over 10 years and they got a dog about 2 years ago. Recently they had broken up and as he moved out and couldn’t take to dog with him so she stayed at there house. Since his partner didn’t want to look after she has taking her to dogs trust. I was devastated as I would of taken her if I had know as I had looked after her many times while they were away and she was great with my dog and son. He is going to try and get his ex partner to phone dogs trust to see if they will let her take her back and I will look after her. My question is would dogs trust allow that or would I have to go through there rehoming process ? She has been there for 4 days. Thanks in advance.

I know they keep them for 7 days for assessment, so the dog will still be on the premises.

However, your friend has signed over ownership so Dogs Trust own the dog now. Speak to them ASAP (preferably in person) and explain the circumstances. Chances are you'll need to go through their rehoming process, but hopefully you can get a head start.

Legally they will have signed over ownership of the dog to Dogs Trust. They won't normally give a dog back.

I would contact Dogs Trust ASAP yourself and explain the situation before the dog is reserved by someone else. You would need to go to the centre and fill in the forms and pass the standard rehoming checks.

I'm pretty sure you have 7 days in which you can get them back.
