Does your dog dislike one particular dog? (Not breed - just an individual)

My dog is nearly 2 and was very well socialised, loves all dogs and people.

Recently he was humped to beyond an inch of his life by an entire male who was about double his weight. He really had to get funny with the dog to make it let go, it had a tight hold of him. Even then, DH had to escort the other dog back to its owner (we only ever see it being walked very late, I think because it's recall is terrible).

About 5 mins after this, a collie came over trying to get our dog to play. He was really not up for it, gave the dog a few seconds to say hi, and moved away. It followed and started jumping on him. He gave it about a minute of polite warnings before being louder about it - and it still didn't go away. We had to assist it's owner in catching it.

We have seen it once since then and he immediately took a dislike, let it have a sniff (he was on a lead, this dog wasnt) by after about 5 seconds made it extremely clear he didn't want it to carry on.
The same thing happened tonight. I had already put him on a lead when I saw this dog coming. It approached him off lead again.

I thought he had an issue with big dogs since the humping incident but it seems to be just this specific dog. Yesterday he played with lots of big dogs like his normal happy self.
Does anyone else's dog have a dislike to just one individual dog?

I'm telling myself it's fine for him to not like every dog, especially as he was on a lead. But I hate people thinking that we might have a mean dog. I also suffer from anxiety and worry about them meeting off lead (he will let any dog say hi for a few seconds but move away if he doesn't want to play. However, I've never seen him tell another dog off like he does with this one).

Fwiw we live in the UK where dogs can roam where ever there isn't a no dogs sign, so it's not a dog park issue.

I will also say other than this, and one time where a Rottweiler ignored all his 'I'm uncomfortable' warning signs and nearly squashed him, I've never seen him growl at another dog.

Yes - one cocker spaniel that he despises. When the cocker was a puppy it charged over to my dog, just being over-friendly/enthusiastic, but it freaked out ddog and he’s hated it ever since. My dog is a little highly strung/nervy, but generally loves other dogs, apart from that one!

Mine is terrified of German shepherds and one in particular. No idea why, he’s never had a bad exposing one and his particularly hated one just looks at him while he yaps at it

There seem to be several dogs locally who don't like mine! (She's timid and elderly so really not looking for trouble!)

Yep, a collie who tries to hump him everytime he sees him. Ddog hates him and actually snapped at him the other day (which is very unusual for him), didn't deter the other dog one bit.

It does annoy be a bit to be honest, this dog has zero recall and no manners and I've stopped walking where I know he usually goes.

Mine is generally well socialised and friendly, but hates one particular dog we see on walks. She's a rescue so we don't know what experiences she may have had with a similar dog in the past causing her to be that way, but this particular pooch is generally just minding his own business. Weird as she tries to be best mates with pretty much anyone else!

Yes, perfectly pleasant black labradors. In fact, the more soft, friendly and gooey they look, the more he hates them. So embarrassing...

Glad it's not just ddog. I feel a bit sorry for the dog as it hadn't really done anything other than be over friendly and not leave him alone. But then that in itself is quite annoying for him.
He did tell off another large lab that appeared of nowhere and got right in his personal space now that I think about it, so I think he just has a problem with the unsociable greetings. I think I probably wouldn't care half as much if he wasn't a bull breed so people judge him.

I have the most laid back springer ever, who is totally non aggressive to any other dogs - except one. A grumpy, yappy spitz thing that lives down the road. The spitz turns into a yapping, snarling ball of fury when it sees my dog (to be fair it hates all other dogs) and my usually soppy dog growls back, then hides behind my legs because she doesn't like trouble.

Mine (a small male) absolutely hates a female black Labrador we always meet in our local park.

In fairness lots of other dogs also hate this lab, she’s a rescue dog who is overly boisterous:aggressive and her owner seems to be doing nothing to train her or help her behave sociably.

It’s got to the point now where if I get to the park and this dog is there we just turn right around and leave.

Don't blame you Lemon, I hate it when people do nothing to help their dogs behaviour. I cut rescues a lot of slack but if no training is being done and no management in place, like a long line, then your walk is no fun.

Must admit I'm not sure why she let this dog approach ddog off lead again today, when we had put him on a lead, and last time I explicitly said 'sorry but he doesn't like your dog

There is a dog in the local park who keeps trying to hump Maggie, even though he's been done. Maggie is not interested though and rubs from him, which makes him chase her.

She's already got a boyfriend anyway, Albie. Her an d Albie go bonkers when they see each and spends ages rolling around in the grass. It's cute, they really love each other.
