The doghouse

bitch in season and not coping well

We rehomed a lovely little dog last monday and she has just started her second season. She is not coping well at all and is clearly very uncomfortable. She won't walk and doesn't really want to be picked up but doesn't want to be left on her own either. She is eating if the food is put right in front of her. I'm not sure what to do- watch and wait? If I took her to the vet would there be anything they could give her to help?

Could the vet spay her?

We're planning to get her spayed as soon as possible after her season has finished. Apparently its safer not to spay her until everything is back to normal which can be 2-3 months after her season has finished.

Do you think she's unwell? There is an infection called pyometra that can be very serious for an in season bitch ,have a google

From what I've read pyometra usually happens after the dogs has finished their season? I think she's feeling poorly but not sure how to help or whether she's just knocked sideways by the whole thing.

I've known of dogs get sick during their season & need emergency spay ,keep a close eye on her & especially on any discharge.

I would get her to a vet asap. She needs to be checked out.

Thank you to those of you who replied. She's doing much better now. I think she was really uncomfortable on Sunday and we were worried about her but she much more her normal self.
