Little shit is over a year old now and she still isn’t as well fed as we would like...

At first, I thought it was because madam kept getting her food before she had a chance to fill herself. Madam was scoffing her own food quickly, and then stealing little shits. This has been stopped as madam was getting fat and little shit wasn’t gaining much weight.

However, she still just seems a bit too skinny. Can feel her back bone easily, and the tuck between her rib cage and stomach is very easily seen.

She eats like a horse but she is very active which makes me think she may just be naturally leaner due to her activity

She had been wormed but is due another dose so I’ll try that first.

Apart from raising food portions again, what else would you suggest?

As she’s so well in herself, in reluctant to involve a vet but I will if I need to.

For those who don’t know, little shit is a chihuahua and she’s nearly 14 months old.

I haven’t weighed in a while but last time I did, she was 2.3kgs which is bang on to what a female chi should weigh...she just looks too thin..

I think she looks fine, she's still only young and will probably 'fill out' with age. Feeding small regular meals helps and tripe and puppy food is good for putting on weight, but I'm not sure she needs it!

You may say that now @LaurieFairyCake but just you wait. She’s a bugger at times but I love her to bits Grin

And thanks bodge

Looks fine to me.

I see so many chubby chihuahuas that I sometimes wonder if people have lost track of what's normal. I'd sooner have a dog on the thin side of ok than the fat side of ok anyway.

She looks perfect to me. Watch out for seagulls, yesterdays news story made me sick to my stomach.

What do you feed her? My dog was just on dry food and too skinny, I added wet food to her dry 2 times a day and she's put on about a kilo.

She has butchers grain free wet meat mixed with seven(the brand name not 7 different kind Grin) grain free biscuits.

Both dogs eat these and enjoy wolfing them down
