Opinions on dogs left indoors when owner home outside

Thanks everyone for positive input... not so much for negative... if I cannot help and no one is able to change it because there is no obvious abuse... just yelps and cries... what would you do? Is it right to have a pet in a cage like a monkey? If its not right to have a pet monkey (which it isnt of course) then its not right to have a pet dog locked indoors... same difference. Going round in circles here but no obvious resolution to the problem. Maybe there isnt one; maybe I have to reconcile myself either not going out into my garden to hear it or go out and ignore it?

I honestly don't have a clue what you are asking. Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude. I just genuinly cannot understand the situation...

You mean someone’s left a dog in a crate without properly crate training it and now it’s distressed?

I don’t understand- are the owners crate training the dog and just outside? Because that’s part of the process to training them, leaving them for slightly longer on each occasion to build up to an hour or so.

This makes very little sense. Is the dog being left in a crate? Or just indoors generally? Are the owners in the garden? Is the dog domesticated? ...is the monkey...?

nooo i am just comparing a dog locked indoors to a monkey in a cage... the dog is not in a cage just left indoors because his owner is too lazy to take it out or take it outside and never plays with it .... even when the owner sits outside the dog is locked in the house and its a terrier cross... not exactly a dog that likes being cooped up or no exercise... I dont think the dog has had good training because of course the owner needs the training (I did when I got a dog... I needed the training not the dog lol) never blame it on the dog..... we just had an over the hedge moment because the dog was scratching so much at the door and he has now taken him out; I dont expect that to last but at least its a small victory for the dog.

Is the dog being taken out for walks? How old is the dog?

Separate note but a domesticated pet is not comparable to a wild animal.

Errr... maybe I am missing the point of your thread but my toy poodle can "ungarden" at about the pace I can garden, so I am afraid he has to watch from the window if I am working in the front! He is also a menace when he tries to "help" wash the car. I don't think 30 mins of sitting on the back of the sofa watching me through the window is likely to do him any harm given that he is waited on hand and foot the other 23.5 hours in the day!
