Car travel and dog/puppy

So I am aware the law has changed. What do people put their dogs/puppies in in the car? I have a Ford cmax which just had the normal 5 seats, so when we go out as a family all the seats are taken as we have 3 children! There is also usually a pushchair in the boot, however we could take this out of the dog needed to travel in the boot.... what would I put the dog in, a crate? How do I secure it in the boot etc? Sorry sound so clueless but not had my own dog before and when I used to go in car with my parents dogs someone sat in the back of car with dogs on their lap- before the law changed obv! Thanks

What size dog? That crate should do a medium sized breed...

Crates aren’t usually secured in the boot tbh, just put in, dog restraints in cars are to stop the dog killing people by hitting them in an accident.

If it’s a large breed dog you could go for a guard for the boot over a crate.

We just have a dog guard and bungie the pushchair in. I'm not sure on the law, but my dog would jump over or could fly over in crash and hit the driver / go through the windscreen.

Oh, then yeah... a bit too small.

My rottie just went in the c-max boot with a dog guard, I think I could quite easily have found a crate that fitted tbh, but, I only used the boot for him when he was in it as in I didnt need a buggy or anything in there, so I just used a guard.

I’ve just bought one for my Ford Fiesta from pet world on eBay ... they were really good, answered all my questions and delivery was quick. It fits the car perfectly.
Just looked and they do them for cmax too.
