Dog carrier for car seat

We are going on holiday in the UK later this year and taking Ddog for the first time. Normally he travels in a crate in the boot, but this takes up the whole of the boot space so not practical as we will need the space for our luggage.

When he was a puppy we had a small carrier that fitted on the back seat and attached to the seatbelt. Although he is quite a small dog, he is a cavalier, he has grown out of that carrier so I am looking to buy a replacement. Can anyone recommend one? The car has leather seats so really not keen on using a seatbelt dog harness.

We will be taking his foldable dog crate with us for when staying in the cottage, so the carrier will simply be for the car.

Have a look at the various carriers certified by the Center for Pet Safety, it’s also worth looking at the full list of carrier test results to see how badly some carriers marketed for use in the car fail in the event of a crash.
