My heart is breaking, my old boy is 12 hes not been well lately back and forth to the vets upset tummy & high temps.

Hes had a scan & the vet has found a huge tumour that cant be operated on.

He is the best boy, we got him as a 6 week old puppy when ds1 was 4 & years have flown by days digging at the beach, playing football (ddog is the best goalie) having snowball fights.

Last night we took him for a wee walk somewhere he loves, rabbits to sniff out & a wee burn to paddle in, he did it but only just. Now with tears running down my face I think the time has come to say goodbye.

I am so sorry Thanks.

It's heart breaking but the one last thing we can do for them is to give them a peaceful ending knowing they have been loved. Thanks

Ah I'm sorry to hear that Flowers
What breed was he?

Sounds like he's had a lovely last day, and now he gets to drift off to sleep with no more suffering, surrounded by the people he loves.

And don't you worry, my Copper will be up there waiting to take care off him and show him the best place to chase rabbits, he was the best boy too!

Hes a border collie, his name is floyd.

This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make, when is the right time, is there ever a right time.

I once read that is better to let them go a month early than a second too late. You'll know when it's time x

Oh Floyd what a beautiful boy such intelligent loving eyes (so similar to my BC who was also a fab goalie). My heart goes out to you.

It is the hardest decision and I never know when is the right time. People always say you will know but I never have really. Dogs are so accepting and brave that one thing is for certain if we can tell they are in pain and uncomfortable then they really are.

I am sorry you are having to go through this, the worst part of having dogs in our lives but Floyd's memories will be within your family for a life time.

Ah beautiful Floyd!

It sounds like you know now is the right time.

He has spent his whole life pleasing and loving you, bringing you happiness. Now you must be brave and repay his loyalty and love by letting him go peacefully.

As a pp said better a day/week early than a second too late.

My brave boy is gone, he was the kindest most good natured dog we could ever have wished for.

He touched do many people with his big smilie grin & the waggiest tail ever, we will never forget him.

Today I'm going to collect his ashes & one day I will scatter them in our favourite place, but for now there is no rush as he is no longer in pain or discomfort.

Night night Floydie, sleep tight.

Thank you all, your words mean a lot on what has been a hard & in some ways a happy day.

I didn't quite realise what a comfort having his ashes would be.

Dp, Ds1, Ds2 & I have had the most lovely afternoon looking at old photos, remembering all the places we've been and all the funny silly things that floyd did.
