Dreading tonight and sleep

I'm down with a chest-infection and really need to rest. But a 10 week old puppy who cries 3/4 times a night is going to put pay to that. I can't bring him upstairs as my MIL is ill and staying with us and is in our room (which has the space). DH and I are all cramped in the spare room.

The bloomin inflatable mattress has a puncture and I can't face sleeping on the most uncomfortable sofa in the world when I feel so ill.

I just wish we were 2/3 weeks further along and he was sleeping better without me there. Instead we'll be woken by crying. I feel for him as I should still be near him while he learns.

No point DH staying downstairs, he fits even less well on the sofa and has to work and be compus mentis tomorrow

Any tips on how I can make it easier on all of us?

I just need a couple of days to start getting better.

No dog tips. Just to be extra careful to have everything you need to hand.

Sleep in cosy clothes, shoes or slippers at the ready. Torch at the ready. Up, wee, staright back to bed for everyone. No messing about

Personally, if I were your DH I'd be doing the wee-runs tonight so you can stay in bed. Having to get up 4 x 10 mins throughout the night then going to work the next day is not the end of the world.

@missbattenburg I'm pretty sure he will. He's a good egg. Always has been with the human kids too. I'll still be disturbed though. I've never been able to sleep through him getting up for something.

Am really glad he'll likely get up instead of you. Nothing else for it, stay comfy and cosy and try to drift off back to sleep ASAP.

It really is miserable though and unfair how often illness comes along when it's least convenient!

You never know, tonight could be a puppy break through night with less wake ups. Fingers crossed.

I got flu the day I brought my puppy home! That was really bad timing and it was Feb so cold out! Remember taking him out constantly through the day, trying to praise wees and poos with full blown fever shivers!

It was crap but got through it and he’s a good boy now (mostly!)
