Cherry pit

Hi everyone
This is probably a silly question but as our last dog became very ill from eating something he shouldn’t have and then suffering post op complications and sadly died I am slightly neurotic... our cockerpoo has just eaten a whole cherry which one of the kids dropped accidentally. DH says it will be fine as the pit is only small and I’m sure he is right, but I feel nervous!

I am sure he will be fine. My friends 2yo DD eats cherry pips and hasn't come to harm. I don't think they are dangerous for dogs either.

Cherry pits aren't good for dogs because they contain small amounts of cyanide. However, I think from memory that becomes a problem if they eat a large amount and chomp them.

My bloody dog occasionally eats one because the birds insist on eating cherry's in the garden. I just try and limit them as much as possible by trying to get to them before he does.
