Very excited - adopting a dog

He's not home with us yet but I just want to yell it from the rooftops. We've been looking for a dog for ages but were always turned down because of DC's ages. So today we met Dexter, a very smiley and waggy tailed Heinz 57 type. He's a bit smaller than a cocker. Our first family dog and we're all very excited. I forgot to take pics as we were too busy playing. We've bought Pets at Home today. Grin

Congratulations. Getting a dog was the best family decision we ever made.

A dog 'makes' a family Smile

Congratulations! It is without a doubt the best thing we've ever done (other than pick each other!). I was at the park ridiculously early this morning with Ddog and her complete joy at being out and about and able to race around was infectious, I'm never able to stay miserable for long when she's about!

Wonderful - many congratulations and well done for adopting too. That's a lovely thing to do. Agree a dog completes a family. After all they're just children in furry trousers. Send pics !!!

I'm so pleased you're rescuing - there's too many dogs waiting for their homes. You'll have a complete family now - and tbere's always someone who loves you when you've had a shit day/argued with everyone etc.

I no longer have mine. But one of the best mornings was a freezing cold one. In the woods at seven. He stopped to check out all the frozen cobwebs. I remember being wrapped up warm. And watching him charge back and forth. His ears flapping in the breeze. ( he was a springer ). The biggest smile on his face.

This is wonderful. I waited 70 years before I could get a dog. She came 18 months ago and has totally changed my life. Even DH, who never wanted a dog, adores her.

Hope you have great fun with him!

I'm in the same boat, though she's not my first dog. She'll be taking up residence when she's been spayed.

I'm also excited, and a little bit nervous!

We've had our rescue dog 4 months now. Totally changed our lives for the better. Two walks a day is good for not only the dog but us too. Friends have commented on how I'm smiling more since dog arrived Smile

He's arrived and had a lovely day outside in the garden. He's put himself to bed in his crate.

Gorgeous! From his markings and features it looks like there's possibly some Beagle and Jack Russell in there :)

How's he doing this weekend?

I have a Jackabee Bumbledog. He is such a joy. He's been through Central London on the tube when my son was in an autism unit.
He was judged the second most handsome crossbreed in the country in 2014 in Scruffts.

@adaline he's had a good weekend thanks. And first few days of peace and quiet with DC's and DH back at school and work.

He's currently snoring after a little walk. We thought he had JR and beagle to begin with but have now decided there's some Corgi in there too. He really is a jolly little chap.

Awwwww❤️❤️❤️❤️
A dog brings something special to a family, I think. Wouldn't be without our two little rascals now. Congratulations!

He sounds lovely! It really is the best thing ever. We adopted our cocker in March and I was just thinking this morning how lucky we were that he came along. We'd lost our beautiful old boy in January and we were all bereft, but Eddie has helped us to smile again.

@ Elderflower14 - yours is gorgeous too! (And is that someone beginning with W or am I confused?)
