Dog walking shoes/footwear

This is a bit of an obscure one, but I thought you dog people would have good advice... Recently started walking rescue greyhounds, on a prescribed route going over a badly maintained style, that bends as you step on it. Discovered that my wellies don't bend enough in the foot to give me proper dexterity (?) while I am trying to go over, and get the dog to go under. Need to have footwear suitable for the potentially muddy field beyond. Don't mind having a pair that just live in the car, but ideally don't want to spend much for something that will see no other use. I'm not asking for much am I? :) TIA.

In my experience waterproof footwear is pretty unyielding (I have 3 different types). I think you might have to learn to wobble...

What do you wear Grumpy? Maybe the waterproof footwear, without the sty complication... I think I might be a bit anxious about greyhound running off whilst I am dithering, and having to tell my own not-very-shaggy dog story when I return with an empty lead...

In the winter I wear woof wear yard boots , they are excellent .

I wear wellies, yard boots or walking boots when it's wet. Yard boots and walking boots have better grip, so that might help on a wobbly and probably slippery stile. You'll get better at it the more you do it, too.

Coming at this from a slightly different angle, I find leads like ruffwear's flat out lead really handy for stuff like this. The handle has a buckle clip in it so it's easy to clip it to the fence/style while you get yourself over with both hands and then unclip to sort the dog out.

I wear walking boots in winter, and these waterproof trainers in summer.

Ooh, waterproof trainers, that sound like a good idea!

Also OP, if the stile is dodgy it might be worth letting your parish clerk know, as footpaths have to be maintained and kept passable.

I walk, usually, roughly four hours a day (too many dogs!) and use a mix of waterproof trainers and waterproof walking boots. I swap as otherwise my feet get tired and achey. You'll need good grips for the slimy muddy sections.
