How is dog boarding usually calculated? Per day, night etc? If I put my dog in on a Thursday evening and collect the following Wednesday morning first thing and it's £20 per night what would you calculate total cost to be?

My old dog boarder used to say that her charges were for up to 24 hours, so it would be £20

in all the kennels I've used, its usually per day - so that would be 2 days ie £40.00

We pay for 24 hours or part thereof for home boarding
Doggy daycare ( different place ) is £15 per day 9-5 but if running late and they have to take him home with them they usually charge and extra couple of £ up to about 6 or £20 if around 8
With dd care though we usually use it if going on a long day trip or out all afternoon/evening so often don’t drop him off until lunchtime and if we are later than 5 I keep them fully informed ( just in case anyone thinks I’m a CF)

I expect the rate for every 24 hours or part. So if you do 36 hours I wouldn't bat an eyelid at being charged for 2 days unless the contract said otherwise.

Simply put, it varies between kennels/boarders. I have two people I use and one charges by entire 24 period, one charges by the 12 hour period. In this scenario, unless otherwise stated, I would expect to be charged for the entire 24 period, if that makes sense?

Whoever you use, their pricing options should be clearly stated as part of the T&Cs of using them and other checking that, I am not entirely sure what else we can bring to this.

Everyone I've ever used does the 24-hour period/night - though if it comes to a bit less than 24 hours (as in your case - being about 12 hours short) I still pay up to that 24 hrs IYSWIM. I think it would be a bit mean and not good for boarder/client relationship if you tried to give them a fraction of a day's charge. Thursday evening to following Wed morning would be 6 days/nights = £120 . Easy way is just to subtract first date from second .
