Me again !!
So my boy has severe arthritis and the vets put him on tramadol (04/05/19) and metacalm but I’m finding he still isn’t putting any pressure on his paw and he’s panting ... I’m guessing he’s still in pain this is really starting to worry me. He doesn’t want to go out and eating very little.
Surely the tramadol should be working by now ??? He’s on 4 tablets a day !

I would go back to your vets and explain it isn't getting any better especially with the panting.

Oh hadn't clicked that the date was yesterday. Perhaps see how he is over the bank holiday (assuming you are in the uk) and then if no better phone on Tuesday?

Our vets are open tomorrow even though it’s the bank holiday I’m just really concerned that he should be at least putting pressure onto it with the tramadol an metacalm ??? He’s due to go back on Friday for a review but I don’t think I can last that long.

I would trust your instincts as it always has paid off for us with BiteyDog in the past. If it doesn't feel right then give them a call.

I’ll maybe see if I can speak to a vet tomorrow, I hate seeing him like this I thought the tramadol might have helped but i don’t know if it takes a couple of days to get into his system ? can’t find anything on google either

Has he been x rayed to check for breaks in the paw ?

Not yet .... because of his age the vets are wary to sedate him - he’s nearly 14. The vet has bent all his bones etc to see if he flinched and he never, I couldn’t watch them bending his legs it was too traumatic. Considering his age, & breed they are putting it down to a severe case of arthritis. He’s only been on small lead walks and he lets me press down onto the paw so I’m pretty positive it’s not a break.
