Digging dog

Our Labrador puppy has decided that the middle of the lawn is the perfect place to dig a hole! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this?

I used to bring my dog in when he would start digging so his fun outside stopped if he started it.

However, sometimes the easiest thing is to block off the area they like to dig in. I also did this for certain parts of the garden.

Fortunately he did grow out of this behaviour Grin

Set up an area where ddog is allowed to dig, and make it great fun - bury or part bury some toys and treats so that that becomes the absolute most fun place to dig. Best to channel the instincts.

The problem is we can’t really block the area off as it’s where she wees/poos as we’d have to block off the whole lawn area.

I've got a periodical digger. I've blocked the holes that endanger the stability of the fence so he's started a new, more convenient excavation nearer the back door. To be honest, I've more or less given him that section of back garden. I'm lucky enough to have other areas of the garden that he isn't allowed to create a muddy, holey, paradise in.

Buy a sandpit for her to dig in - make it fun. Bury treats or toys in there for her.
