We are thinking of getting a 8month old rescue lab/gsd x. She has been in foster care for 2 month in a family home. I met her today she was very sweet and friendly, DP and DC still need to meet her. Just wondering if anyone has got one or had one before? We had a rescue collie for 15 years but DC can't really remember her. So she will be the first family dog.

I had a gsd growing up he was lovely but very strong and pulled on the lead a lot. He was very loyal and protective. I've also had labs are brilliant and friendly although lively when younger. Seems a strange cross breed but both lovely dogs. Gsd in particular prone to hip issues x

Two breeds that commonly have hip problems.. I would be wary in terms of getting good lifetime insurance cover etc.

We've got one. It's not that uncommon a mix - google Sheprador.

We got ours as a rescue at 6 months old and I can honestly say she is the sweetest-natured dog I've ever met. We did find her harder to train than our Labradors as she's not so food-focused! However we soon discovered that a tennis ball works well and can distract her from most things/bring her running back. Having grown up with a GS I can see all the traits and physical attributes in her. She's super - intelligent and needs lots of activities games to cater for that. She's 3.5 now and still has all the energy and enthusiasm of a puppy.
