Eco friendly poo disposal?

Hi All,

I hate how many poo bags I am adding to landfill. I know you can get biodegradable bags, but has anyone found an even more environmentally friendly way to deal with poo when you're out on a walk?

Lots of places (particularly forestry commission) encourage 'stick and flick', so it's off the path. We usually walk ours in woodland and that's reduced our bag usage.

I do still use bags in other places.

In Malvern they have a lamp powered by dog poop!!! You use brown paper bags and it goes in an anaerobic digester to convert to electricity. In Oxfordshire they collect food waste for similar digester so I wonder if you could put the poop in those collections, but that would need investigating/campaigning the council. Would be good though if it was possible.

I walk in woods mostly, so we stick and flick. I only use bags if he goes in the garden or a pavement/road.

Stick and flick is contributing to the massive rise in Echinococcus disease in the U.K. sheep and human population. This was the whole reason for picking up poo in the first place. Please don't do it.

What about in areas where there are signs up asking you to do it?

Lonecat maybe you need to then take that up with the forestry commission who advocate a stick and flick in the deeper forest areas.

Sadly the Forestry Commission are resisting current U.K. slaughter house evidence. You are likely to see a lot more from DEFRA once they have finished dealing with the export mess of Brexit.

I love in a town, and walk in parks so stick and flick wouldn't work here. It sounds like biodegradable bags is the only option.....
