As title really - my wonderful, stubborn, clownish, beatiful Briard died a couple of days after I finally brought DD back from the hospital. I had a straight forward birth but readmitted a few days later for sepsis. The initial meeting between my DD and dear dog was fab as I’d expected, just a polite, pleased wag and a lick. Two days later DH said she seemed quiet, I checked and she was very pale so straight to vets. Long story short, my dog who was happy and apparently healthy on Monday evening was never woken up from surgery on Tuesday afternoon due to multiple tumours over liver and spleen and a major abdominal bleed resulting.
I’m just so, so sad. She was my rock, I’d had her since before even meeting my husband and I had hoped my DD would have vague memories of a large hairy hound following her around the house. She was such a calm, gentle dog, ideal to have around small children. I even took her on holiday to Wales a while ago and left DH at home alone. Now I’m at home alone with a 9wo baby for company as DH usually works away from home during the week and it makes the house seem so empty.
There’s no other point to this thread really, just wanted to share. As an aside, I know puppies are hard work but this is my first baby. What age would people suggest waiting until before introducing a new puppy to the fold? TIA
