The doghouse

Messy drinker and slippery floors

I’m sure there must be a simple solution to this that I’m missing. I’ve just slipped over (again) on a small puddle left on the tiled floor (carrying empty plates, thankfully not my dinner), left from DDogs drippy drinking habits.
How to avoid the puddles? Or do I just need to think about mopping them every time?

Put the bowl on a tray?

I don’t think that would be big enough, but I could get some non slip matting. Thanks.

I keep my dog water bowl in a chick crumb tray.

I keep hens, so saw it when buying hen food. Chick crumb is baby hen food & is a flat round tray with a lip.

We have one of those water collecting mats underneath - stops the puddles, but the mat ends up sodden. I'm going to buy another mat, so I can have one in use, and one being washed/dried.

Yet again I've messed up a link...

My last dog was the messiest drinker ever! Huge puddles around his bowl.
We put his bowls on a plastic tray (the rectangular kind you serve sandwiches on at a buffet, think it was from costco) a very cheap solution to the problem.

So far new pup isn't too bad just little dribbles, but I've got a spare tray just in case!!

My dog has the ability to dribble water right across the kitchen. Putting his bowl on a mat makes no difference.

Bitey mine too! Please let me know if you come up with a solution, I’m forever following mine around with a towel

My dog likes to take a mouthful of dry food out of her bowl and wander into other rooms and eat it off the carpets at random spots. It's very annoying.

I've put a bath mat under my dog's water bowl. I found plastic mats ended up swimming in water. A bath mat absorbs it and it then gets thrown in the washing machine every week.

We use a bath mat under the bowl.

It wouldn’t matter what I out under the bowl, the big slobbery chops trails the water about ten metres through the house!😂 I just keep a bleached mop on the go at all times and wash the mop heads v regularly.

You need a Road Refresher bowl! Made a huge difference to how much water my dog drips across the floor.

I’ve just looked at the Road Refresher bowls. Interesting.

We bought a Torus bowl. It has helped but is not perfect. Also have stood it on a silicone feeding mat.

I've just seen this thread and was going to say road refresher however you have to be very aware of water level as it's not easy to see when it's getting low.

Also if your dog has a long thick "beard" clip it short - with a short beard I can use road refresher as the best spaniel bowl ever, without the middle bit in so that I can see water level easier.

My dog tips over his waterbowl unless it is very thick shallow china. Now why do you think that is? Something they do in the wild to get cleaner water, stir up the mud to get to a spring - he tips the water up and then drinks from the puddle on the floor!!!AAARGH

nettle that must be a nightmare!

Animals can be funny with their water bowls - I had a pony who used to put his front legs in and splash about in hot weather - took me ages to find out why his water bucket kept getting so muddy. Hmm

We moved the bowl to somewhere it didn't matter if he made a mess, he's the worlds messiest drinker, I swear 80% ends up on the floor.

I have a highly absorbent DH. Dwolfiepup knows this and helpfully seeks him out to dry herself off after every drink. Grin

I think BiteyDog doesn't actually swallow the water. He just collects it in his mouth and then dribbles it out as he walks around the kitchen. I have the mat that MrsCasares linked to but that just keeps the bowls in one place but doesn't help the water spillage on the other side of the room Angry
