A good flea treatment

We were using alternate brands for our dog as we'd just bought some from the shop then the vet said they weren't any good but rather than waste use alternate months with a pack bought from the vets.

Iirc the brands were frontline and advocat. I need to buy more and can't remember which is meant to be good and which not.

Bravecto, but it's POM from your vet. Over-the-counter stuff is not as effective. Heading towards summer I'm always more concerned about the performance of a product in preventing ticks (which can be a serious heath risk) than treating fleas (which are a nuisance).

I'm sorry op! My dog has a chewable tablet called nexgard. I get this from the vet. This prevents fleas, worms and all other parasites. I highly recommend. Apologies again.

I would defintely research different brands. I was given advocate when mine was a puppy but found it smelly and slimy. So did my dog as he would be hyper for several days because the smell would keep him awake at night.

Finally I said to my vet I needed something different and they recommended nexgard spectra. This is a monthly chewable tablet that treats fleas, ticks (we are in a high tick area with lymes disease) and certain worms including lung worm. Best thing we ever did was to swop to that.

We used advocate for years but was always worried it would wash off as my dogs love water. Now use bravecto-a single tablet which lasts three months. I’ve had no problems with it for either dogs. I say that because some people won’t use it as there have been cases of dogs reacting badly.

We've just looked in the cupboard and have five lots of frontline left. We've used one as she was due but really want to go on to something else as I'm sure she has a soft poo for a couple of days after treating.
