Finally found a wonderful rescue who would consider us ( young children , cats , chickens!!) and have just reserved a beautiful 3 year old greyhound girl . Much excitement for her coming home just in time for her 4th birthday .
Has anyone changed their greyhound name or should I keep to it ? Her name is Diva ... her behaviour sometimes lives up to it 😳😂😂! I kind of associate that name with a chihuahua who lives in a handbag though .
Husband wants to call her Davina so he can call her Dave as apparently he has always wanted a dog called Dave ..... if I'm not careful she actually will end up being called Dave poor girl . She doesn't seem particularly responsive to her name ... so do
I stick with Diva or any other suggestions for a gorgeous black dainty pointy girl .
Also what size crate would i need for a small greyhound girl ? Looking at a large or would an XL be a better size ?
Can't wait to start collar and coat shopping ..😍

Yeah you can change their names. She may not know Diva because the rescue have only just given her that name. Sadly they dont necessarily have names when racing.

We kept our boys as it really suited him. We changed our girls, didn't suit her at all. They pick these things up very quickly

Congratulations on adopting a grey. They are fabulous x

We've just adopted a make greyhound, and changed his name to Dave! I chose it as I've always wanted a dog called Dave!

One week in he is learning it, although he's not the sharpest tool in the box!

Mine had been bred by trainer & named from birth so i kept them. They get called by various nicknames & will respond so it doesn't matter if wish to change as its only like them learning any new command.

My greyhound had only been given her name the day she arrived for rehoming, so wasn’t at all responsive to it. She was very much a racing dog, not a pet. It showed when we took her home and she had to learn how to navigate the big, bad world.
We changed it completely but we mainly call her doggsta now!
I think if she’d had the same name for a long time we would have stuck with it.
