The doghouse

Honestly, the dog is a totally shameless con-artist

I had JUST fed him and gone upstairs when DH walked in. The dog convinced DH that he was about to starve to death, even as he was practically licking the last of his (first) dinner from his lips. So when I came back downstairs he was chomping his way through his second dinner.

He won't look me in the eye now.

Our dog does this all the time. We all know that you Don't feed the dog until you have checked with everyone else that she is not lying.

Usually DH asks first, but he has flu so I think he did it on auto-pilot. I think this is the first time the dog has managed it, he's very smug. Now he'll be trying it on every time.

(Yes, I know he shouldn't have gone to work with flu, I told him that. No, it's not true that it isn't flu unless you're too weak to pick up a €50 note, it's perfectly possible to have varying severity of any virus.)

My mum once told me ‘oh dear, we think the poor elderly cat has dementia. He’s asking to be fed 5 times a day!’

Er, no mother. The ‘poor elderly cat’ is playing you...

Our Goldie tried this on regularly! We all learned to check with each other! She was a very smart dog.

The dog's hit the jackpot now. Our old dog could do this trick perfectly - he had "scruffy old gent, down on his luck and down on his sausages" down to a tee.
