The doghouse

Sorry paw worse on carpet/grass?

8 year old greyhound. Was running on grass yesterday morning, immediately afterwards was limping on back right leg. Can't see anything in his pads or between toes but he's still limping. Is his normal self, playing, eating etc. Weirdly, he is walking fine on pavement but really struggling on the carpet and on grass. Any ideas?

Obviously going to take him vets if he's no better tomorrow but just seeing if anyone has a clue what it could be.

Clearly title should be SORE paw, not sorry!

Oh no, you've got a sight hound, sorry paw is perfect, never met dogs that could feel so sad for themselves Grin.

If carpet/grass is irritating could it be something that's a big higher up between the paws? Flat pavement wouldn't press on it.

That was my thought too, something that is being pressed on when he's on a 'squishy' surface. Trouble is he's had a terrible past and is very growly if you go near him when he's in pain, don't think he'd hesitate to snap if I hurt him. May have to muzzle him and see if I can spread his toes.

Would he consent to a lovely soapy foot bath? I've got whippets and they'd be a bloody nightmare to let me look at their feet. It's taken me ages just to get them to not fight toe nail clipping. If I tried to look between the pads they'd never come near me again! Definitely muzzle, he'd probably be heartbroken if he snapped at you but wouldn't be able to help himself. Poor lovely boy.

How much cheese have you got? Maybe a kilo would do it at a pinch!

No he won't let me near it at all, he's wary of me going near even if I rub his tummy.

Think it's going to end up being vet visit. Sad
