Hi all. My 10yr old staffy has been checked for a few lumps & all been ok, but vet has always said - look out for fast growing ones.

She has suddenly got one appear on her shoulder & it's the size of a golf ball already.

I'm off to vet at 2.40pm with her (obvs!), but wanted to ask for a hand hold & good thoughts, please!

Good luck at the vet's. Wishing you and your staffy well (I've got one too). Hopefully it is something benign like a cyst (I would imagine a cyst could grow quickly and still be benign). Fingers and paws crossed for you both here.

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork thank you! The others have been fatty lumps, but you're right - a cyst could definitely be fast growing. Ughhhh. I know I shouldn't worry, but our vets are great & last time they called me that evening with the results.

Any news? What did the vet say?

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork no news yet. Vet took needle biopsy & it was obviously really sore for her - but every other time she hadn't even flinched. Vet said she'd call me, but if I haven't heard by tomorrow afternoon to call. I'm gonna have her in my bed tonight, snuggling! Lol. Thank you for checking in!!

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork called vets & receptionist said vet needs to speak to me re options. They can't say it's benign, can't tell extent of tumour. I have to wait for vet to call. I'm in pieces.

Thank you @BiteyShark I've tried calling twice now & still can't speak to vet. Just don't want to leave it over the weekend.

@ChestyNut they're kind of known for them, aren't they? She's got several, but every time they've tested they've said straight away it's fatty lump & all ok. When receptionist read out notes, it doesn't say that. I've had a shite day with other stuff & this is making me cry!

Need to stop worrying as nothing I can do. Sad

I don't think you can stop yourself worrying. It's natural as they mean the world to us.

I would phone back and ask them if they can phone you before the weekend (they can work bloody long hours as I have had calls really late evening before if they have been caught up in emergencies so hoping they get back to you).

@BiteyShark I called again & the receptionist was so rude & said "I told you you might not hear today". She bloody did not. She said vet will not call today.

Want to drive there & punch her stupid face!

I didn't get a chance to look on here today until now. I am sorry you are having this worrying time. Are they open at all tomorrow? Maybe the vet will call you tomorrow. I suppose it is possible that they don't know what it is yet exactly so can't say either way and want to do some sort of tissue biopsy or scan as a next step? Fingers and paws still crossed for you both....

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork they're not open tomorrow. The notes said the need to discuss the options, so I guess that'll be surgery or more tests. I'm going to try to put it out of my mind until I hear. Thank you Smile
