10 week old puppy has stopped eating and has mucous diarrhoea lots of it. It's not bloody but all I can think is Parvo and other nasty things 😭 got the vet at 3.40 but I'm so worried

Oh lord. Fingers crossed. Where did he come from? Have you spoken to the breeder? They could all have it.

She's from a rescue centre and we've had her for nearly 3 weeks (she'll be 11 weeks on Saturday ) can they stay symptom free for that long?

Unlikely to be parvo then as the incubation period isn't that long, assuming you haven't let her come into contact with unvaccinated dogs.

Do let us know how the appointment goes.

The vet agreed she's very subdued so gave her an antibiotic injection and some more to take home she has a temperature but it's very mild

That's good, sounds like she should recover well!

Our pup had the same thing, I think the mucus makes it look worse! She had it for 2-3 daysand we kept her on chicken and rice and it cleared up. The vet thinks it was probably just a bug, they’re like kids they pick up everything going at that age

@Giraffe31 it's horrible isn't it? Hope she perks up soon!

@NewYoiker I’m sure she will, they’re tougher then they look and enjoy the puppy days while you have them, they grow so quickly

We got our puppy from a bad breeder (accidentally) she had diarrhoea with blood and mucus in. She had antibiotics and has recovered really well and is now a bouncy 9 week old ball of endless energy. I’m willing to bet your little pup will be just fine. The worry is awful though Flowers

Also gave outs chicken and rice mixed in with a really high quality dry food. (The stuff the breeder gave us was no good according to the vet so although it wouldn’t usually be advised, we were told to take her straight off it).

@allwalkedout the rescue gave us a really shocking food, it has about 5% meat and it smells like digestive biscuits, they gave us a massive bag of it and said 'she really likes it' but she refused it for days and just ate our other dogs food instead, so we've moved her onto a better version of his. It's crazy they give out such bad food!

Glad your puppy is doing better

Glad she's OK. You definitely didn't over-react - it sounds as if she definitely needed checking over. She may just be adjusting to the better food but it's always better to be safe than sorry, especially when they're babies. She's absolutely gorgeous.

Absolutely, always best to be on the safe side when they’re only puppies. Glad she’s ok!
