Hi, our first pup, will be 6 months this summer, and we plan to go to France (with appropriate pet passport etc) need a house with pool, or part of a cluster, foreigner area preferably? But really want there to be secure fencing (dog will still be young) if there is such a thing? Oh and a heated pool! (For is not the dog obviously Grin) anyone got any good suggestions! First trip with dog so don’t know where to start!

There is a FB group called Book direct with the owner, it covers France and the UK, you post your wants and needs and various businesses get back to you with what they have? Might be a good start?

Are you aware of the changes that will take place with pet passports and Brexit? They are an EU scheme.

Read up, and consider having a plan B for puppy, bearing in mind that boarders tend to get booked up well ahead of time during the summer.

We travel regularly with our dogs to France.
Things to think about:
It's hotter than the UK- what are you going to do with ddog when you go site seeing or shopping- too hot to leave dog in the car.

Dogs paws can burn on hot pavements too.

How well does your pup travel? It's a fair drive to the Dordogne, plan in lots of pee breaks.

Finally- Brexit.
At the moment you are ok with just a UK pet passport, all pretty straight forward.
In the event of a no deal, you need to plan much earlier:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/taking-your-pet-abroad-if-theres-no-brexit-deal/taking-your-pet-abroad-if-theres-no-brexit-deal

It's still doable- but start planning now. My dogs have had the blood test and I will be getting the health check just before we go back.
