Daisy Goes to Rainbow Bridge

We had to have our darling Daisy put to sleep last night. She was 13, and until 3 months ago was really fit and well. She had a toe removed for a cancer, but bounced back. Then a few weeks ago, she developed renal failure. She went to the doggy hospital for IV fluids and bloods etc, then came home before Christmas with a diagnosis of Chronic kidney disease and a poor prognosis.

She gradually stopped eating, lost loads of weight and was being sick despite meds and renal diet. So last night I decided she'd had enough, and it was time to say goodbye. The vets were fantastic, and I held her in my arms whilst she looked into my eyes and peacefully died.

But I'm in bits! I'm appalled with how sad and lonely I feel. I keep expecting to see her wee brown face pop round the door to see what I'm doing. I can't eat or stop crying. I know that it will get better, but I just miss her so very much.

Rest in Peace Daisy.

Gosh, she looks like a good dog, OP.

It's just so heartbreaking, when they go, isn't it? Whenever I read on mn that someone has lost a dog, I hug battendog that bit tighter as it's the day we all dread.

However, Daisy looks like she lived a great life and was clearly very loved. May we all get to say the same about our lives. Well done Daisy!

Flowers for you, Wine three cheers for her...

So sorry Flowers

Us doggy owners know how much they mean to us and losing a member of the family is heartbreaking.

I’m sorry to hear that. She sounds like a lovely dog. I imagine she had a great life and you gave her the kindest end to that life.

Last night is so recent! Cry as much as you like Flowers Daisy was your friend and companion and of course you are going to miss her like mad.

I cried for 24 hours solid over each of our 3 guinea pigs

it’s a truly heartbreaking experience - one which no one understands unless they have been through it.

But in time you will be remembering the good times. My dogs died 18 and 23 years ago and I remember them with big smiles but it was just awful at the time.

I had to take Monty to the vets today for an upset tummy. We were seen in the same room that my old boy Barney slipped away in four years ago. Always brings a lump to my throat. So sorry to hear that Daisy has gone to play with him over the bridge. 🌈

Flowers for you, OP. So sorry for your loss. Having lost beloved furry babies myself over the years (we all do) their absence just doesn't get any easier and yours is so very recent. What a sad start to your new year.

And HarrietBasset Flowers for you too on the loss of your lovely Betty on Christmas Eve.

My heart aches for you both.
