Comparing home dog boarding prices

Please could you let me know how much you pay for home dog boarding where there are no other boarding dogs present?

I'm comparing prices!

Thanks BiteyShark. £25 seems about right for one dog. I did another thread as the other one said home counties and it would be good to compare prices throughout the country. :)

Home boarding is much nicer, my dogs would hate kennels!

My dog would be terrified of kennels as it would remind him of being admitted at the vets. He loves his home boarder though but it's the same person he goes to for walking/daycare.

In some ways I wish mine was a dog that took kennels in his stride but he doesn't so home boarding all the way for us as well.

I use holidays4dogs, their fees evidently vary by area (I didn't know till I just looked, I'm in a standard area) and have just gone up (as of today) because of tighter regulations adding costs.

We've been really happy with them. I don't think there's ever been another dog boarding at the same time, though one of our dachshunds 'holiday aunties' has a Great Dane who he adores - you get to meet the carer and see their house and any animals they have and can obviously specify if your dog must be the only pet.

I think they're competitive on price but there's more to pet boarding than that!

I used to charge £10 a day but I loved the dogs so much that I probably would have done it for nothing

Funny that I never really made any money and decided to get a FT job.

Yes, it was £18.50 per day here for an online booking - £7.50 booking fee, £11 to the carer. As I understand it, the new DEFRA regulations are likely to add costs to all pet services so you need to make sure you're looking at up to date pricing.

OldPoster - you are the best sort of dog carer then as you obviously love the dogs, you could have charged more.

Errol - thanks that's good to know. So for online booking has it gone up from £18.50 to £23.50?

I think that's correct (though more in the south/London it appears) - I got my spring holidays booked last week when they were holding previous prices.

I may have this wrong but I think with the new regs (some sort of license required) if anyone is charging much less then they may not be operating legally, or cutting corners.

We pay £10 per 24 hours in the NW. But it's very cheap and we're very lucky to have such a fab daycare provider. He does sitting for us while we work and if we need him to have him overnight or for an evening too.

Yes I believe a licence is required for home dog boarding, and insurance.

The boarder should have a licence from the local council and insurance certificate.

I would always offer to show them to owners, some looked some didn't.

If they don't offer to show them and are not forthcoming when you ask for them the that would put me off of using them for boarding.

Yes that's right, it gives you confidence if they are licensed and vetted by their local council.

If your FT job doesn't work out you could always go back to the dog boarding. :)

If you operate as a business you do require a license.

£30 for 24 hours in London. No other dogs overnight but some came for daycare and it was a group walk in the daytime.

Avocados, yes you could call the licensing dept of the boarder's local council and ask. £30 sounds reasonable for London, it's bound to vary depending on area.

Each council has a list of the licences it has issued and any conditions ( eg. Maximum number of dogs) it imposes.

Sometimes it is hard to find the council lust online but every council will supply the list on request.

If I was looking for a dog boarder, my first step would be getting the council licence list.

Not sole care but she is qualified trainer /dog walker and groomer .
Expensive yes but my boy adores her and she good in emergencies ( daughter rushed to hospital she came and collected him no questions asked

Thanks. That is expensive, but like others have said, it's about the service as well as the cost. If you know your dog is happy it gives you peace of mind.
