Best hoover with a golden retriever

Hi all
We have an 11 month old golden retriever and our current hoover which has just broken (a dyson) couldn't cope with picking up pet hair.

I'm wondering if anyone can advise of a good hoover for a long haired dog and any to avoid!

Thank you in advance!

I recommend a Miele C3 Cat & Dog. It has an attachment for pet hair and hoovering the carpet upstairs is now a doddle compared to before. I never thought I'd spend £200 odd on a hoover, but if you have pets it's so worth it.

Shark duo lift off pet. I own 2 dysons and neither pick up dog hair. The shark does.

@acatcalledjohn

I'm following this thread as I also have a long-haired dog (and a cat). Could I ask you, do you find the turbo-brush on the Miele becomes clogged with hair?

We've got a Miele cat and dog upright. It was expensive but it's 8 years old now and still great. It can be a pain to get the bags because I always forget to order them online and only John Lewis sell them locally.

I have a black cordless vax with dustracker head.
I can’t remember the actual model but it’s very good.

You do have to clear the brush bar very regularly though as it clogs up with hair shockingly fast.

I have two Goldie's and recently got a shark cordless. It needs emptying constantly but picks up so much more hair than my Dyson. I think the lift away has a larger bin.

Retriever here too. Shark cordless is good.

Labrador owner here - so same level of shed if not quite as long.

We recently replaced our Vax with a Shark Loftaway Duo pet. Best move ever. Had to empty four times just doing the ground floor - which shows how little the Vax was picking up in comparison.

Retriever and German Shepherd owner here. My Miele Cat and Dog is my most treasured possession 😂

@ScreamingBadSanta It does, but you are supposed to take it apart and clean/clear it from time to time. Nothing a small pair of scissors can't manage.

IMO it's a small price to pay for easy vacuuming.

Bags are easy to get for this model too. I get them from Amazon when needed.

That's useful to know, thank you. I once bought a Vax wet and dry vacuum with a roller that broke on first use as it couldn't cope with the pet hair! Fortunately I was able to return it as it had been advertised as being ideal for pet hair.

You have to post a picture of your dog if you talk about them Grin

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one struggling with goldie fur! Been looking at the sharks but not sure which one, am I best getting a cordless one rather than one with a cord?

Please see attached picture of the little munchkin :)

This is what the pet attachment looks like. With a small coin or butter knife you undo the orange screws and remove the cover in order to clean it/remove tangled hair.

Mine needs a clean, but after hosting the in-laws for the last week I'm allowing myself some time off.

The shark cordless do you find hair gets trapped and stuck?

I bought the vax with two dogs. Friend bought the Shark, she said it cannot cope with one dog.

hjb Yes. It does unfortunately. I've just this minute cleaned out the pole. You do have to take off the foam bar too and clean the brush bar as well, as washing the foam filter too.

That's quite a lot of cleaning, but I've got two dogs so it gets hairy here, but I do like the Shark.
