Other dog has form and I have spoken to the owner. My dog is a very gentle easy going greyhound with not an aggressive bone in his body. He has one toothmark above his back leg. He keeps flinching which I think is the wound pulling (I washed it last night and it has dried overnight). He was OK in himself last night but is very shaky and panty this morning. Wound looks fine and he has eaten his breakfast (with the addition of tuna) so I think he's just having a delayed reaction to the whole incident. I can't put his cuddle coat on as it will rub the wound and he's just pacing and panting. Does anyone have any advice? So I just walk him as usual? He seems petrified.

I have done lots of stroking and talking which he seems to like but he won't lie down (he doesn't sit).

Take him to a vet please, I can't see the injury. But you need a vet to check him over. Wounds can be deeper than you think and your dog might need a painkiller or antibiotics.

Did you report it to the police?

And no I wouldn't take him out (other than garden) -cuddles and lots of company. But please take him to the vets.

I can't get hold of my vet. As in literally can't. Their duty mobile just rings off with no voicemail. I'm trying to find another vet to take him to at the moment.

We're taking him in now. Thanks for answering, Bertie. I haven't called the police but will have a think about what to do later. I only meant that the dog had form for barking at other dogs but I found out this morning that this is the third dog he's actually bitten which makes it a bit different.
