Nighttime disaster please help

Our 2.5 year old working cocker who has always slept in bed in the kitchen at night time is suddenly not ok with that. I’m at home with him all day every day and always have been - he gets a long walk every day and plenty of love and attention. Since he was a puppy I have always put him to bed, cuddled and kissed him in his bed for a few minutes then left him. We had a baby 5 months ago which could be relayed but his routine and exercise haven’t changed (obviously attention is divided now). However starting 2 weeks ago we put him to bed and he just cries and cries, and when ignored barks! I just don’t know what to do!!!

My dog has tried that a few times, mostly at my parents house - we ignore him. Working dogs in general are very clever and they want to be with you upstairs so basically try it on. Think of it as moaning because they can't have their way

Ahhh dogs They are just four legged haor babiee really....He is just trying it on he sees the new baby being allowed upstairs to bed so is probably thinking hey take me too...I'm a baby look! He will get the hint silly dog!

My 2 year old toy poodle has always been brilliant in his crate but has become v unhappy. We let him stay sleeping on the sofa if he wants but he is barking often now through the night. I have been going downstairs but I can’t function I’m so tired. I just don’t want him waking my DD who has to go to school.
If we let him bark it out wonder how long it would take for it to stop?

Your dog may have been spooked by something. My dog freaks sometimes when there's a loud bang or noises she's not familiar with. May have to go back to basics with training.

No idea what the solution is, his will was stronger than mine and it brought back hideous memories of sleep deprivation with ds2.

I feel your pain. Our cocker just bangs the kitchen door by pawing it and doesnt stop! She actually just never stops pawing it so to get some sleep she gets in the living room on the sofa. They know what they are doing!

Also just a thought. The weather has changed now, could your kitchen be too cold at night? Maybe put heating on for longer?
