What do you all get for your pets at Christmas? My family and friends claim I spoil my 4 dogs too much, I spend too much money on them etc my response is usually my money my dogs my business, but out of curiosity would you all say this is too much? and how much do you spend on your dogs/cats/horses etc.
firstly on the 22/23rd (or last weekday if those land on a weekend) I take my dogs to the groomers for the works the owner gives me a deal £150 for all 4 which works out at £37.50 per dog instead of £45, I have 2 long-standing appointments with them one in summer one right before Christmas, I have Akitas so rarely need bathing and I keep up with everything else myself in between these appointments like brushing nails ears etc.
I then buy a pack of 4 tennis balls for £1 so 25p each
a squeaky toy each £1
a rope ball thing 89p home bargains
a pig ear from the butcher 50p each
a pack of their favourite treats they each have a different favourite so the price varies at most £2 each.
and a new collar which are from pets at home around £6 / £7
let me round up say £50 per dog totally £200 for them all, the=is doesn't seem excessive to me,
I have one DSS, (11) he wants for nothing. and I hold my hands up he is spoilt rotten at Christmas,
(i will be slated by non-dog people for my next statement)
my dogs are my furbabies they are compensation I guess for the children I cannot have I always wanted a bunch of kids but unfortunately couldn't so I chose to have dogs instead.
I also wrap my dog's gifts loosely they really enjoy ripping them open and get all excited and they each have a felt stocking I bought in pound land and embroidered their names onto.
do you give your pets a special dinner on birthdays and Christmas? I do, birthdays they usually get liver and Christmas they get a Christmas dinner.
I cook theirs separate to ours so I know its safe for them; they have carrots a little bit of mashed potato some of our turkey a pig in blanket some plain boiled cabbage some boiled peas or green beans. with their complete dry food, i make them a small amount of gravy with the water off the veg and a low salt stock cube. I probably seem nuts dont I?
