Puppy Odour!

We've had our gorgeous puppy for about 10 days now and loving it! However, the smell in our kitchen is awful. I've washed his bedding, regularly clean the kitchen floor, lit scented candles, opened the windows and have bathed the puppy but to no avail. We have another dog and he definitely isn't contributing to the smell. Anyone else had this puppy smell? When will it go? What's causing it? Is it just "puppy" and it will get better?

Sounds like more than puppy smell, puppies smell gorgeous and shouldn't stink your house out. Can you describe the smell?

My puppy stank but was fine after a shampoo. What is the smell like?

Puppies just stink a bit unfortunately. You either love the smell or hate it!

I think I’m just not enjoying the smell - it’s a normal puppy smell. I don’t remember this with the last dog but then I had small children at the time and our kitchen now has an Aga which perhaps enhances the smell 😵😆😁

If the dogs stuff is in a warm room then it will smell distinctly "doggy" - especially as now there are two dogs not one!

Has puppy been for his vet check up with you yet? - very smelly dogs can have serious underlying health problems, so I would definitely raise it with the vet.

Is puppy on a poor quality food? - lots of dogs smell distinctly "doggy" if they are on poor quality food or the food isn't agreeing with them.

What did you bath puppy with?

I disagree that puppies smell any more or less than they will as an adult dog, so long as they aren't dirty (obviously it's easier for a puppy to accidentally get wee and poo on themselves).

Our puppy had been rolling around in piss with his brother when we went to picked him up and he smelt rank, not a great home coming but he went straight in the bath.

So french bulldog puppies do they out grow the puppy Odour , please tell if is just a puppy phase ?.
We bathed him but he still leaves my clothes and living room smelling distinctive of strong frenchie odour. We have had him just over a week and as much as I love him, I know for certain that I cannot cope with the smell for the next 10 years let alone another week!.
I also don’t want to disappoint my daughter who chose him as a pet and unsettle the little pup- just 4-5 months old now.

Well I've never known a puppy smell anything but gorgeous, unless it has got excreta or urine in its coat (or anything else smelly). A freshly bathed puppy might smell a little bit doggy when wet, but not offensive by any means. I don't know what a 'frenchie odour' is...is this a thing?
I think you need to speak to your vet and rule out dietary and skin problems, and it would be helpful for a second opinion on the smell. Do you think you are just over sensitive to it? What do the rest of your family think?

Years ago, when we got our puppy-he stank! Vet said he had scurf and gave him some medicated shampoo. Cleared up almost straight away.
Think the medical name was canine seborrhea.

I would also look at his food. There may be an ingredient he's sensitive/allergic to. Does he seem happy?
