I have a 12 week husky who is on day 11 of transitioning onto raw food diet. We have nothing but bother with his poos since getting him at 7/8 weeks. Has been soft since the beginning and after his 1st injections and worming medicine (turns out he had roundworms) he developed severe diarrhea which lasted roughly 2 weeks where he was put onto chicken and rice which helped slowly. After he finished that we started the raw diet and it has turned blackish, soft and with mucus in it and sometimes looks like there is stuff in it. Is this worth a trip to vets or wait out the transition to see if it does get better. I do feel like it isnt getting better and we have just had problems from day one. My partner calls it black mr whippy its that soft

Also he is fine in himself, very lazy most of the day some days and has hyper periods too. Has been going for a poo in the house past couple days even though we take him outside regularly and can have been out for a while but as soon as we come back in he can go for a poo in the kitchen or living room.

I know absolutely nothing about raw feeding but are you using a 'complete' meal or trying to do it yourself as you need to make sure you have the right balance of everything if you are doing it yourself.

The black soft mucous poo though doesn't sound very good and I would be taking him back to the vets ASAP if it was my dog.

Its the ready made meals for him, not quite onto to the diy stuff yet. Thank you, we had been to the vet on wednesday for his injections and mentioned the mucus, she did say it could be colitis and to keep an eye on it she said to come back if it changes again cos as soon as he had his last injection and worming it was like water and needed some antibiotics to help. Will defo be ringing back as just feel in myself its not right.

I spent many many visits back and forth when mine was younger for diarrhoea and mucus. Because he often had a temperature he was given antibiotics and probiotics to settle his stomach.

However, his poos were never right and I used to be envious of other dogs solid poos and eventually after a couple of very severe episodes of D&V he was diagnosed with IBD so yes trust your instincts. I 'knew' things just weren't right and eventually we did get to the bottom of things.

Thank you for the advice, i have had that gut feeling before with my son, turned out he had a milk allergy after many trips to doctor so will defo trust my gut this time too with the pup and get him seen again.
