Just that really. We've moved by the sea and she is constantly eating things. I really don't want to go down the muzzle route but probably will need to. I appreciate any recommendations. Thank you x

The best muzzle very much depends on the breed and shape of your dog.

The most important thing however is to make sure you muzzle train properly rather than just putting it on their face as this will cause them to become avoidant. See Chirag Patel's video for a good example of muzzle training. It does take a while but is worth it in the end as they don't want to rub/paw it off the whole time 😊

Mine is muzzled so he can’t bite.

He can eat things through it though btw...

A basket muzzle, such as the baskerville type. Dog needs to be able to open his mouth, pant and drink. I would take dog and go and try on lots of different types as it all depends on face and snout shape.

Then slowly slowly get her use to the muzzle. So muzzle on floor, reward every time she goes near it.
Cream cheese/anything lickable in the muzzle, reward when she put nose in to lick it.
Hold the straps behind her neck, release and reward.
Straps done up, reward, release etc

One of our dogs is a scavenger and poop eater so for certain parts of the walk where we know there is likely to be stuff she will eat she is muzzled. She has a Baskerville Classic www.dfordog.co.uk/baskerville-dog-muzzle-classic.html and doesn't mind wearing it in the slightest.

That one (the Classic) is specifically for scavenging. They also do one for biting/aggression which is a different shape and is called the Basketville Ultra www.dfordog.co.uk/baskerville-ultra-dog-muzzle.html so be sure to get the correct Baskerville Smile

Baskerville. They can pant, drink and vomit but not eat crap. Marvellous invention. Take your dog to where they have the full range and fit it though as sizes are deceptive. No guesswork as a badly fitting muzzle will make his face sore and he won't tolerate it so well.

What is she eating? If it’s other dogs shit, decaying beach critters etc, she can just squish her muzzle into the delicacy and eat it anyway through the bars, then leave you with the vile job of muzzle cleaning. Happens with my friends dog.

If just discarded food, seaweed etc, then I would go for the Baskerville Ultra. Nicely padded so comfortable for the dog, they can pant and take treats slotted through to them. Nice and secure too (not just a muzzle designed for aggression as suggested by PP).

Used a Baskerville Ultra for my last dog (for aggression) and it was the only one he didn’t mind wearing, so obviously fairly unobtrusive for the dog.

Some of them (it might be all of them now, I haven't looked at them for a while) have a second layer of mesh at the front. This is presumably to stop them getting tasty morsels of shizz they shouldn't be eating through the front?

Yes, ov the Baskerville Classic there is a little removable front piece that sits at the very nose end of the muzzle (inside) as an extra precaution against scavenging.

Sorry can't help with muzzle , but you do have my sympathy.
Our darling dog jumped into a harbour once and and was drinking the water for ages , didn't think too much of it but afterwards he was so ill I didn't realise how salty the water was , stupid me thought he wouldn't drink it if it was salty .
He was so ill afterwards and have read about dogs dying from drinking sea water , we were very lucky that he was ok .
I hear dead seals are food of gods to dogs and the most smelly 😯
