Warm wellies for large calves and cankles

I’m a size 14 and really struggle to get any knee high boots to fit .....I have an old pair of hunter adjustable wellies that fit if I just have socks / jeans but can’t use long wellie socks. It’s getting cold again and they just aren’t warm enough.
Any suggestions - I want them to look good aswell as do the job as I often end up wearing them for school run / nipping to shops after doc walk.
Thanks

Joules are fab! Don't buy at full price though there are always offers on

Muck Boots (Derwent) for me. Toasty warm, grippy, comfy and stretch over calves...

Muck boots or other brand with the neoprene leg. Stretch over whatever thick clothes you want to add to thick calves

I have a pair of le chameau which have adjustable straps for the calves.

I also laughed at what I thought was a typo cankle for ankle but have just looked it up on google and it is a 'phrase' Grin. You learn something everyday.

Muck Boots do the job for me, but if you want something better looking how about Dublin river boots in wide?

Have absolutely no idea why that message was deleted. If anyone could enlighten me I’d be grateful

Did you say something offensive about wellies Grin.

I presume MNHQ hit the wrong button?

Report
Labmom · 27/11/2018 15:27

No I asked about a brand of wellies and asked if any good for the price

I have some Joules Wellibobs, ankle height so avoids calf issues. They've been great for walks.

Aigle wellies. I have enormous calves and they are the only ones that fit over trousers and have room for wellies socks. Warm in winter, cook in summer. Expensive but so worth it and great customer service

I have Huntress Wellies as I not only have fat calves but also a high instep. Most wellies including Joules are impossible for me to get my foot into.

Re MN deleting posts, I had a completely innocuous post on another thread deleted yesterday.

I came on to say extra wide Dubarry’s. Grin They’re like slippers, they’re so soft and light but so warm. Shame you didn’t get on with them. Dublin’s are pretty similar though.

I was seduced by the Aigle parcours following recommendations on here. They were fab for the first winter; really warm and snug. However, by the second winter the sole had started to separate from the main bit of boot. Given their price, I’d have hoped to get longer out of them. It may be that I just got a poor pair - but be warned that they may not last too long!

Dragontrainer - contact them as they have a warranty. I emailed them explaining that mine has split. But didn't have the receipt anymore. They asked for a photo, and send me a new replacement pair.
