Annoying things my dog did today

I love my sweet boy more than anything but my god, he has some irritating habits.

Loves going on walks but hides under the bed whenever I get his harness out.

Goes completely deaf when he finds and eats a big pile of horse poo.

Always tries to climb in the fridge.

Will only poo in one very specific spot, right round the back of the park. Even when it’s raining.

Does your dog have any annoying quirks?

My beautiful lovely dog flaps his ears when he gets up to adjust his sleeping position in the night. It's so loud that it wakes me up as he sleeps in the bedroom.

Runs off with his ball in the garden when he senses ball play is about to end.

Insists on peeing on the real grass which then dies rather than the fake grass.

My dog does this annoying play type thing when we're getting ready to go for a walk. I just want to put her harness on but she wants to dodge back and forth and play bow.

She also seems to go completely deaf sometimes when she goes out to the garden for her pre bed wee, so I find myself standing in the garden around midnight whispering her recall command while she wanders around the garden inspecting every inch of it before deciding that actually, she's just about ready for bed now, and will come back indoors; this, I hasten to add, is a dog with a 100% recall under any other circumstances so it feels particularly annoying in the middle of the night when I want to go to bed.

Same - even though he sleeps downstairs it wakes me up. That and his perpetually - wagging tail hitting things. Pleased that he's such a happy soul though, obviously!!

My foster dog, a 4 month old lab / Great Dane mix has discovered he can get books off the bookshelf and I will come running as soon as see him trying. Not fun. I discovered a bite mark on a book about the British Library, could have been much worse as we had photo albums on the same shelf. He is a nutty thing.

My Chinese crested runs away and hides when she sees me get the collar and lead out, although she will deign to come for a walk if I insist.
And she barks at the slightest sound, even when it's me at the gatd, and she knows it's me

Ah ha! A shar...dale. I don't know why I didn't click that, except for some reason it didn't strike me as an abbreviation of two names. Thanks!

p.s. super cute!

Four dogs so many quirks (not all annoying some really cute) I'll try keeping it short Ddog 1,2&3 are siblings and 4 years old. Ddog 4 is almost 7 months

Ddog1, weighs 55 kilo. Likes to sit on my knee, having belly rubs on the sofa "hits" me if I stop, won't give me a kiss but smothers DH in them if he asks, has to come onto bed every night and lay with head on DH chest untill he gets too hot or DH falls asleep whichever comes first!

Ddog2 my "babyone" decides she wants cheek kisses trots over and pushes her face into mine so I can kiss her cheek multiple times very fast. Likes to lay one the sofa with you with head in crook of arm all legs on air having a belly rub (bit like holding a baby) farts really really loud like human loud when people are over, thankfully they dont honk like usual dog farts more loud and proud not silent and violent, Has to eat alone because she won't let any other Ddogs in room if she is eating.....takes her dam time too, just nibbles can take up to an hour to eat a meal.

Ddog 3 very vocal walks around the house making a low growl most of the morning untill he wakes up, looks out of top floor windows barking at birds and leaves, will bark at neighbour if they are passing and won't stop untill they ackowlendge him by saying hello, quite happy then. Barks at his tail.

Ddog 4 keeps stealing worn socks and won't let others near them, doesn't chew hem just carries around with her, sticks her whole face in the water bowl, dunks her paws in water bowl, tips water bowl (only when it's full) all over the floor, if I pop out to shop (dh dss and 3 other dogs still in house with her) she cries for around 2 mins no consoling her, then waits for me, then wants to be carried on my hip like a toddler (Siberian husky around 20 kilo so not exactly light and small) likes to run and dive into soggy mud! She is white. Plays in an empty bath tub right after it's been cleaned.

All Ddogs are brew thieves green tea, chamomile , normal tea, coffee, (we only had decaff) so can't leave your mug down if you need to do something mid brew.
Like to watch you on the toilet, in the shower/bath you know keep you company incase you get lonely

My one seems to love to chew anything hard plastic, plastic lids in particular! the other day he managed to get into the hallway and chew the nozzle of a BORROWED jet washer thing! luckily my husband has to take it back to the neighbour and apologise Smile

My boy ( working cocker spaniel) hates his harness too, and tries to hide when it comes out. He swallows whole socks and regurgitates them all slimey a couple of days later usually on the landing when you get out of bed with bare feet. he has stolen two half blocks of Red Leicester in the last week and gnawed them before I could wrestle them off him. He disappears into thick undergrowth on his walks until I am frantically calling him then jumps out as if its a huge game.

I raise fellow Husky owners 1 entirely eaten flip flop (minus the toe post bit).

Report
TropicPlunder · 16/11/2018 13:14

pigs mine does the midnight parade too!! Sometimes I have to go after her with a torch and just see creepy Gollum eyes shining from the dark corner of the garden. Sometimes she digs up some festering chew which she burried last week, and starts having a midnight snack.....then she really does go deaf.

@santaispolishinghissleigh husky owner here too, ours also enjoyed flip flops but rather than eat them she chewed the straps so they don't stay on your feet.

She's also eaten part of a dining chair, destroyed multiple dog beds and chewed some laminate flooring where it wasnt properly put in and had a small gap (good job we had decided when we moved in that we were going to replace it sooner rather than later)

I am glad she's not so chewy now

To give her credit it is THE only thing that has been destroyed. During puppy days we lived on a farm and she had only supervised access around the house!!

My dog does the sudden deafness while mooching round the garden at midnight trick too. Except he goes and stands under the kids’ trampoline so I can’t reach him and drag him back indoors.

Today he’s had the box of Bonios off the kitchen worktop. Eaten it’s contents and ripped the box into a million little bits.

Farted so badly it made me gag while I was on the phone to a customer

Emptied the bathroom bin and ripped up all the rubbish into a million tiny pieces

Mine (play) attacked me during a teleconference last week. I wrestled her out of the door with one arm, without breaking sentence. Luckily camera wasn't on. Otherwise she lets out comical sleepy sighs during teleconferences, which people on the call likely think is me. The joys of working from home!
