Dog suddening pooing in child’s bedroom - why?

I wonder is anyone can help.

My dog is 2 and my son is 8. My dog (a spaniel) is very bonded to me and kind of worships me, which I did think was quite nice.

A couple of weeks ago I was working and she walked into my sons bedroom opposite my office and did a huge poo on his rug and walked off. I thought it was a one off and really unusual as she is free to go out all the time into the garden and has three walks a day, she has every opportunity to do her business.

I’ve been out tonight and she’s been with my husband, I made a fuss of her when I got in, went upstairs to do some work before bed and lo and behold, she walked into my sons room and has done a massive runny poo over a pile of his books on the floor.

I don’t think it’s a toilet training issue, because apart from these to incidences, she’s been brilliant for about 18 months. Is she making a point?

She is the most intelligent dog I’ve ever owned, we walk her lots and give her lots of stimulation. We can shut the door, which we will start doing, but if she’s trying to tell me something then I’d rather deal with that.

Can anyone help?

How does she get out into the garden if she needs a poo?

My dog acts like an arsehole when my kids watch waffle the wonder dog... could this be it?

Alternatively could the dog think he is higher up in the pecking order than ur child?

I think she's trying to tell you something. My Labradoodle will poo and or wee in the house in peculiar places when she is ill or depressed. On one occasion she pooed on my pillow, so we went to the vets and she had an infection.

My dog did this when I first got him, at 10 months. He’s never done it since.

If it’s out of character, something must be up.

My dog (also a spaniel) isn't meant to go upstairs because we have elderly cats who are up there. If she ever does get upstairs (which happens fairly often because the children leave the gate open) she immediately goes to my daughters' room and wees or poos. She will also soil in the back room downstairs which we're not often in in the winter so I have to keep the door closed. I don't understand why she does it- she is quite anxious but I have taken steps to reduce this which have been successful. She doesn't soil anywhere else in the house and is one so I don't think it's a toilet training issue. I have no idea why she does it and I don't know what to do but you are not alone!

Keep the dog confined downstairs. Don't let it use your child's bedroom as a toilet now that you know it's not a one off
